• I’m an experienced and sympathetic editor with years of experience working in commercial fiction publishing. I’ve acquired and published bestselling novels and worked tirelessly to ensure that the books I work on are as good as they can possibly be. Books I have published have been Amazon bestsellers, shortlisted for major prizes and sold hundreds of thousands of copies, transforming the lives of their authors (and readers).

I have over six years of editorial experience publishing bestsellers and am constantly striving to be a better editor now that I’m freelance. I have an entry level membership and training from the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. I also have training and membership from Club Ed Freelancers.

I prioritise your vision for your novel and always have the reader experience at the forefront of my mind. I know what editors and agents are looking for and how to create a book that will grab their attention (and that they won’t be able to put down).

  • If your novel is commercial fiction (the sort of thing you’d see in WH Smith, a supermarket, Target or in the Amazon bestseller charts) then that’s a great start!

I work on a range of genres including:

    • All forms of crime fiction (cosy, police procedural, thrillers, legal thrillers etc)

    • Psychological suspense

    • Contemporary romance (all spice levels welcome!)

    • Commercial historical

    • Saga

    • Women’s fiction

If your novel is a page-turner that I’ll want to read in one sitting then we’re probably a good fit. Get in touch and let’s have a chat!

  • I work with a range of clients, from authors who are just starting out on their publishing journey and want a second pair of eyes before they query literary agents, to Big Five publishers and small independents. I love the variety and the different perspectives it gives me!

  • My rates depend on the project and service so I’ll always ask to see a sample of your writing before I give you a quote. I use the CIEP (the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading) suggested minimum rates and the EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association) median rates as a guideline. You can also see the average costs for editorial work on Reedsy here.

When you work with me you’re getting my industry experience and a dedicated champion of your work. I’m a supportive and nurturing champion of your work and will give you the confidence and tools to refine your next draft.

  • I do not use Generative AI. I strongly believe that writing is a human art and would like to keep it that way — machines cannot replicate the brain. I do not wish to work on manuscripts that have been written with the use of Gen AI.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’m usually booked up 2-3 months in advance but I can often fit things in sooner, depending on the service you’re looking for. Send me a message and I’ll see what I can do!

  • I’m more than happy to read revisions but this would be considered another project and priced accordingly.

If you undertake a developmental edit with me then I’m available to you while you’re revising for a call to discuss next steps and your changes.

  • I cannot put you in touch with literary agents or publishers directly, or guarantee you publication/ representation. What I can do is help you put your best foot forward and use my years of experience to show you what they are looking for and how to grab their attention.

  • If, for any reason, I am unable to complete the service, you will be refunded the full fee.

If, for any reason, you cancel our project after paying your deposit, I will retain the deposit. If you’re considering doing this please let me know and we can discuss further — I might be able to reschedule your project.
